Ant Farm

Grammy got Alexander an Ant Farm for Christmas, so we have been anxiously awaiting our ants to arrive.  Tempertures had to be ideal for them to mail the ants, but we finally had a break in cold temps and we got the ants in a vial this past Saturday.  Alexander is really amazed at how they make the tunnels, and he keeps checking in on them to see if they have new ones in the making.

We only had 2 dead ants, but the rest were very active.  The directions said to put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes before we put them in the farm so that it would slow them down.

The directions said they wouldn't be very active right away, but our ants were super charged and started tunneling right away.  We had to make 3 inserts to help them get started, but they were marching!

Daddy helped to get them in the farm.

Within an hour, they had already dug a connecting tunnel.  They are so cool to watch and Alex has to check on them every morning!!
