Karate and a Scout Show

The karate kid is back in action!!  We found an AWESOME studio in Maryland that is about 40 minutes away, but so worth the drive.  We all are enjoying the experience at this studio!  Alexander is doing the 5 week intro course, and then will take a test before he can actually join.  He did earn his white belt, but at a different studio it starts all over.  We are very pleased with this program and plan to keep him in there for a while!!  In 3 years, he could be a black belt.  Check out the link if you are more interested in the studio.  It is quite amazing!

This is the first class.

Last weekend, Alexander and Bob made a target board and went out to do some shooting.  Alex has been itching to use his "Red Ryder" BB Gun from Christmas.

In cubscouts, Alex has earned patches for things he participates in.  I sewed them on an old sash that I had from when I was a kid.

Alexander participated in the Scout Show at the mall today too.  Sunni did an awesome job on the booth!  The theme was "Anybody can be a superhero."  In bucket #1 you pick out a first name, bucket #2 you get a last name, and in bucket #3 was a superhero power.  Alexander's name was "Star Racer" and his power was lightning speed.  The kids then got a chance to design a mask!  It was very clever and fun for the kids!!

Look who came to visit!

We went to Wasabi for lunch and it was such a fun experience.  Alexander enjoyed the onion volcano, and I caught a piece of broccoli in my mouth.  This was the first experience that Alex remembers at a Japanese steak house.  He really LOVED the rice!!  We will have to go back.

After lunch, we walked around and looked at the other boyscout booths.  We found a batcave, T-pee, an errupting volcano, and many more fun activities.  He was making a rope here, and he got to earn 2 belt loops at other booths.   He will have his maps and compass, and the art belt loop.

It was a very fun day!
